About Anthony Choy

Anthony Choy (b. 1995, Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong–based artist exploring how places and inner states take form. Rooted in the belief that art is a tool for self-expression and healing, his work aims at self-actualisation and helping others find the same guidance.

Drawing on art therapy, a family of teachers, jazz improvisation, architecture and interior design, art/design history, lived experience of depression, and instinct, Choy works between oscillation and improvisation. His pieces move between automatic mark-making and schematic drawing, building dense focal centers that radiate outward—like a city from above—across pencils, inks, oil pastel, collage, and watercolor. He invites unpredictability by loosening his wrist and varying pressure like musical dynamics.

Educated in the UK with a degree in Architecture and Urban Planning, he is informed by environmental aesthetics and Jay Appleton’s “refuge and prospect.” He worked two years as an interior designer before studying at Hong Kong Art School (Higher Diploma in Fine Art, 2023; BA Fine Art, from 2024), with an exchange at RMIT (Melbourne) and a residency at EJAR (Hong Kong). Recent exhibitions: HKAS HDFA Student Show 2023; 39/0 = undefined — HDFA Graduation Showcase 2023; DOWNSIDE UP OUTSIDE IN (2024); Collision (2024); Comix Arts Fest 2025.

HKAS HDFA Student Show 2023、39/0 = undefined — HDFA Graduation Showcase 2023、DOWNSIDE UP OUTSIDE IN(2024)、Collision(2024)、Comix Arts Fest 2025。
